This week is International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) and is organised by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). Because infection prevention is more important than ever in the battle against a global pandemic and to keep the world safe from healthcare-associated infections and outbreaks, this year’s theme is Celebrate the Fundamentals of Infection Prevention.
This is the perfect time to remember and celebrate the basics of infection prevention: hand hygiene, proper PPE use, the importance of vaccination, cleaning and disinfection principles, respiratory etiquette and injection safety.
