Our Specialists
Clayton Brown
Orthopaedic Surgeon
I am a New Zealand-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon, having qualified in 1994. Following my initial training, I spent two years in the USA specializing in upper extremity surgery, where I had the privilege of training with one of the world’s leading wrist arthroscopists in Philadelphia. Additionally, I gained valuable experience in shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist surgery in Florida and Dallas, Texas.
Since 1997, I have held a public hospital appointment at Auckland City Hospital, where I perform both traumatic and elective surgeries focused on the upper limb and general trauma. My private practice is dedicated exclusively to upper extremity surgery, encompassing the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. With 25 years of post-fellowship experience, I have developed a comprehensive skill set.
I am proficient in a wide range of arthroscopic and open shoulder surgeries, including stabilization, rotator cuff repair, and both anatomic and reverse joint replacement. My extensive experience also covers all forms of elbow surgery, including ligament reconstruction, arthritis surgery, and both hemiarthroplasty and full elbow replacement. In addition, I have performed hundreds of wrist arthroscopic procedures and am well-versed in open procedures, ligament and TFCC reconstruction, as well as common hand surgeries.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I have a passion for literature and art, enjoying painting in both acrylics and watercolors. I am also an avid football supporter and serve as a member and major sponsor of Bay Olympic Football Club. I am married and have three grown children.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve your patients and help achieve the best possible outcomes..
